達米恩.赫斯特 DAMIEN HIRST (b.1965)

Damien Hirst, born in Bristol, England in 1965. He is one of the main representatives of the new generation of British artists and played a leading role in the development of British art in the 1990s, earning a high international reputation. He attended Goldsmiths, University of London in 1986. In 1995, he was awarded the Turner Prize, a prestigious contemporary art award in the UK. His art is based on conceptual art, and his most iconic work is "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living," which sold for the second-highest price for a work by a living artist.

 

Some of his solo exhibitions include "Romance in the Age of Uncertainty" at White Cube gallery in London, UK in 2003; "The Agony and the Ecstasy: Selected Works from 1989-2004" at the Archaeological Museum in Naples, Italy in 2004; "Beautiful Inside My Head Forever" at Sotheby's in London, UK in 2008; "Theology, Philosophy, Medicine, Justice" at Galerie Andrea Caratsch in Zurich, Switzerland in 2010; "Damien Hirst - Retrospective" at Tate Modern in London, UK in 2012; "Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable" at Palazzo Grassi private museum in Venice, Italy in 2017; and "Colour Space Paintings" at Gagosian Gallery in New York, USA in 2018.
