ZHONG CHENG

楚戈 CHU KO (1931-2011)

Born in Miluo, Hunan Province, Chu Ge’s original name was Yuan De Xing and a famous artifacts authenticator, modern poet, prose composer, painter and calligrapher. He was enrolled into a private school in 1942 and painted with reference to “Jieziyuan Huazhuan” and “The calligraphy and painting collection of China”. He relocated to Taiwan along with the Kuomin government in 1949. Joined the modern poet society and wrote art critics in 1957, he supported “The East” and “May” art association movements. Graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts in 1967 and studied green copper from the Shang and Zhou dynasties at the National Palace museum, he wrote many outstanding archeology essays among which “The History of The Chinese Dragon” was the masterpiece of his lifetime.
