ZHONG CHENG

陳永森 CHEN YUNGSEN (1913-1997)

Born in Tainan, Taiwan. Chen’s father Chen Jui-Pao was a well-known sculptor in statue of the Buddha. In his early age, his parents had passed away. Since the first grade of elementary school, he was raised by his father. In 1927, Liao Chi-Chun, a western style painter inspired his talent in art while he was studying at the Presbyterian Church High School, Tainan. In 1955, it was the second time for his work “Cranes” to be honored for the first prize of the Imperial College Exhibition by Japanese emperor Hiro Hito.
