ZHONG CHENG

郭東榮 KUO TONGJONG (b.1927)

Kuo Tong-Jong was born in Jiayi, Taiwan. He travelled to Japan shortly after graduating from the Department of Fine Arts at the National Taiwan Normal University. He completed his Master’s degree in Art History and Oil Painting at Waseda University, Shijuku. In 1983, he held a solo exhibition at the Taipei National Museum of History, the exhibition surrounds the theme of landscape, architectures and local culture. His painting style is influenced by Vincent Van Gogh, he is an expert in color transition. His paintings can be found in the collection of Taipei Fine Arts Museum, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and more. His restlessness and abundant artistic energy has translated into vibrant and colorful paintings. Associate Professor Chen Li-Hua, with PhD in Art Philosophy calls him a “Painter of Time.”
