ZHONG CHENG

郭文嵐 KUO WINLAND (b.1941)

Kuo Win Land was born in Tainan, Taiwan. In 1965, he received 2nd Place in the Golden Hand Award at the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Competition. He was asked multiple time by Kaohsiung City Museum of Art to become their permanent collection committee member. In 1998, he was invited to judge for the 2nd Cultural Award held by the Taiwan National Foundation for Culture and Arts. Kuo’s artistic style is known for its simplified structure and unique beauty. The human form is often his main subject of depiction, he tends to abstracts the form with curve and rounded lines to conveys a delightful rhythm in his sculpture. The combination of stainless steel and bronze material creates unique texture and alluring shine of both gold and silver. His recent exhibition includes: “Taipei International Art Fair: Brilliant Century- Kuo Win Land Sculpture Exhibition” (2004, Taipei); “Tainan Geer Art Brokers- Kuo Win Land Bronze Sculpture Exhibition” (2005, Taipei); “Taipei Colored Stone Art New Museum Opening Exhibition” (2008, Taipei) and more.
