First name Po Tin, Ni Tian was born in Jiangsu, Jiangdu who later moved to Shanghai China. As an artist he can paint ladies and religious statues in soft and free-flowing lines, when painting horses and other animals, his paints with strength and requires no need of drafting. During the time of Guangxu, he travelled to Shanghai to work. Ni Tian is favorable of painting; ink stone and colors of flowers are subjects that can often be seen in his works. In 1910, he became the General Director of Shanghai Painting Research Association. His representative works include “Four Red Map”, “Wisteria White Map”, “Zhong Kui Ladies.” While the painting “Portrait of Sixteen Years-Old Writer Wu Changsuo” is now in the collection of Shanghai Museum.
