菲利普.伊其理 PHILIPPE HIQUILY (1925-2013)

Born in Paris, Hiquily graduated from Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1953. As a sculptor, he is especially good at the use of iron, sheet iron (tole), brass and aluminum. Inspired deeply by the tribal arts in Pacific region and Africa, his works show the style that is unique and innovative. He even extracted the dreamy purity from various art features and conceptions and that let him be grouped as a member of surrealists by some art critics. Hiquily has won many awards and held exhibitions around the world. His works were collected by art institutions and private collectors mostly in Europe and America. The recent well-known work is the Girouette Monumentale for Jing’an International Sculpture Project, which is one of exhibition projects of Shanghai World Exposition 2010.
