ZHONG CHENG

韋啟義 WEI CHII (b.1964)

Wei Chii was born in Chiayi, Taiwan. He pursuit artistic training in Japan at an early age. In 1993, he won First Prize for Creativity from the Ministry of Education. In 1996 and 1998, Wei Chii won the Nan Ying Art Exhibition Award, and Silver Medal from the Provincial Art Exhibition. He also received an Honorary Certificate for “World Chinese Artist” and other various form of awards. His work often displays a rational and calm characteristic depicting observations from his life experiences. His solo exhibitions include: “Wei Chi Solo Exhibition” (2004, Taoyuan, Chanliu Art Museum); “Oriental Style” (2004, Taipei, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall); “Feelings of Poetry and Music” (2006, Taichung, Golden Aries); “Shape, Image” (2010, Taichung, Golden Aries); “Wei Chii Solo Exhibition” (2010, Taichung, DMWE Gallery); “Solo Exhibition” (2011, Taipei, Art Savoir); “Endless Echoes” (2012, Hsinchu, Bamboo Art Gallery). There are numerous publications on Wei Chii’s art. His painting can be found in the collection of National Museum of Fine Arts and Tainan Provincial Cultural Center.
