林明弘 MICHAEL LIN (b.1964)

Michael Lin was born in Taiwan, he is currently living and working in Taipei, Shanghai, and Brussels. He is the ninth generation of the Lin Family of Wufeng. In 1990, Lin earned his Bachelors Degree from Ortis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles; in 1993, he completed his Masters Degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Michael Lin is known for enlarging the patterns of traditional floral cloth, and painting the patterns on the walls and floors of exhibition galleries using emulsion paint, it has become his signature expression. Michael Lin has held solo exhibitions and participated in joint exhibitions in museums and galleries in the U.S., Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands, and South Korea. Recent exhibitions include: “Singapore Biennale 2011: Open House” (2011, Singapore), “Rolling! Visual Art in Taiwan” (2013, Seoul, South Korea, Seoul Museum of Art), “Auckland Triennial 2013: If You Were to Live Here” (2013, Auckland, New Zealand), and “California-Pacific Triennial” (2013, California, U.S., OCMA).
