ZHONG CHENG

李義弘 LEE YIHHONG (b.1941)

Lee Yih Hong was born in Tainan, Taiwan. He graduated from the National Taiwan College of Arts in 1966. He won the Sun Yat Sen Academic and Cultural Award in 1980, and Wu Sanlian Literary and Artistic Creation Award in 1983. He is currently teaching the Department of Arts at the Keelung Middle School and Taipei National University of the Arts. Lee was a student of artist Jiang Zhaoshen. In Lee’s artwork, he incorporates ink and photography to create literati images that depicts the rural area of the Southern Taiwan. His awards include Gold Medal from the Keelung Photography Portrait Competition (1974), Outstanding Writer Award from the 11th Keelung Photography Association (1976), Gold Medal from the Annual Black and White Photography Competition (1976), Gold Medal for Slide Show of the Year (1976). His solo exhibitions include: “2004 Nan Ying Artist Relay Exhibition: Lee Yih Hong Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition” (2004, Tainan, Tainan Provincial Cultural Center); “Taiwan Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition” (2006, Singapore, National Museum of History); “Lee Yih-Hong Photography Exhibition” (2007, Tainan, Kun Ying Culture and Art Museum); “Lee Yih-Hong Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition” (2014, Taipei, Taiwan Soka Association). He published multiple work series. His work can be found in the collection of Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, National Taiwan Museum of Arts and more.
